Annual Scholarship Fashion Show
The Hampton Roads Community Action Program (HRCAP)is presenting its 4th Annual, "Rip The Runway" Scholarship Fashion Show on Friday, March 1, 2019 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm at the Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center. This annual event highlights the success of Project Discovery, a teen educational enrichment program for local middle and high school students. Proceeds from the Fashion Show will provide college scholarships and create an educational endowment for youth services.
Did you know that since 2001, HRCAP's Project Discovery has served 2,752 students, grades 6th through 12th with an average of 85% of our graduating seniors entering post-secondary college? This exceeds the statewide average of 79% of graduates entering college.
Your contribution will support more than 250 currently enrolled Project Discovery students with weekly skill development workshops to include study skills, time management, financial planning, and goal setting. Students also receive assistance completing financial aid and college admission applications. College tours to Virginia and neighboring states are provided to expose first-generation college students to campus life. These direct efforts result in more students pursuing post-secondary education, earning undergraduate and graduate degrees.
